It’s 2016 and we’re still thinking about where did the last year ago. But let’s not waste more time in crying over that and head to what we do the best – think of which Indian ethnic wear trends will rock 2016. If you’re waiting for some fairy godmother to pop up and tell you what you should buy this year, this is it.
Our fashion forecast 2016 can inform you about the best Indian ethnic wear trends. We can help you prepare a good shopping list that will bring you the best ethnic wear for the year.
1. Sarees – Fabrics, styles and prints
In 2016, light weight fabrics like chiffon and georgette are going to be loved. Some new fabrics like art silk tried to conquer the fashion space but couldn’t and we’re quite glad about that. There’s nothing better than light fabrics that make you look slim in sarees.
Instead of usual drapes, the lehenga style sarees would go great in 2016. They bring the very required change to your wardrobe already filled with tons of sarees.
2. Suits – No salwars and churidaars
Yes. You read it right. Ordinary salwars and churidaars have become outdated. Pallazos, harems, ghaagras, straight trousers have replaced them. Ladies note! You need to find a tailor who is adept at stitching such kind of bottoms and not those usual old ordinary salwars and churidaars.
Long kameez will be loved. Short kurtas have gone to the backstage for a long long time. We don’t think they would come back in fashion for years.
Instead of normal straight cuts, kurtas will see a wave of change with styles A-cut, afghani setting in.
3. Gowns with the ethnic touch
Instead of lehengas or anarkalis, heavily embroidered and beautifully put together gowns would be loved in this year. There would be a lovely blend of maxi dresses and gowns which will be loved by Indian divas.
You need to start layering your garments. Be it a suit, a saree or a gown – different layers are going to be loved and layering is an art. It will take you a lot of time to understand and master this art. So, begin now. Don’t let it get too late.
